Private jet charter to Iceland

Whether it’s a weekend discovering the highlights of Reykjavik and the Golden Circle or a more extensive trip around the country, Iceland’s black beaches, bubbling geysers and epic waterfalls make a lasting impression. This small island on the edge of the Arctic Circle is Europe’s least densely populated country and boasts some of its most legendary landscapes – perfect for travellers with a sense of adventure. Charter a private jet to Iceland ensuring an exclusive and hassle-free experience from the moment you depart.

Iceland’s capital, Reykjavik, sits in the south of the country; a mid-size modern city with quirky architecture dominated by the soaring church of Hallgrimskirkja, where the contemporary design is said to reflect the Icelandic mountains. The city has a strong music scene and a great choice of funky bars – things have come a long way for a country that banned full-strength beer until 1989. It’s also one of the best places to sample the classic Icelandic hot dog.

Away from Reykjavik, it’s all about outdoor life. The Blue Lagoon is Iceland’s most famous attraction; a gloriously bright blue thermal pool where the warm mineral-rich waters are a joy to soak in. Sure, it’s touristy, but if you’re clever with your time you could visit early en route to the airport ahead of your charter home. From Reykjavik, most visitors head straight for the Golden Circle: a 300km sightseeing loop that takes in some of the country’s most popular natural attractions. Highlights include Thingvellir National Park (featured in Games of Thrones); the Geysir Geothermal Area, where the Strokkur geyser erupts every few minutes; and the gushing Gullfoss Waterfall, located in the canyon of the Hvita River.

Some of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls are worth the short detour from the Golden Circle: Skogafoss is often blessed with a rainbow, while at magical Seljalandsfoss visitors can walk behind its cascading waters like something straight out of a fairy-tale. Just outside the Golden Circle on the south coast, the remote village of Vik is home to the much-photographed red-roof church of Reyniskirkja, black pebble beaches and Giants Causeway-like rock formations.

Most visitors don’t venture much further than the Golden Circle, but travel into Iceland’s stark interior and you’ll discover a fascinating desolate land of glacial rivers, lava fields and rugged mountains; while those who follow the Ring Road around the country to North Iceland will be rewarded with seeing Iceland at its best. Nestled at the head of the Eyjafjorour fjord, the surprisingly vibrant town of Akureyri is a northern hub where cool cafés, top restaurants and art galleries belie its small size. The wider north is full of charm, with tiny fishing villages and fields of sturdy Icelandic horses, but also offers adrenalin-pumping activities like white-water rafting plus excellent seal-spotting and whale-watching opportunities for wildlife lovers.

It’s worth thinking carefully about the time of year you choose to visit Iceland. For the best chance of seeing the remarkable Northern Lights, visit between October and March; or to witness the “Land of the Midnight Sun”, when there’s up to 22 hours of daylight, travel close to the summer solstice (June 21).
