Said to be one of the most extreme airports in the world, Toncontin International Airport is also known as Teniente Coronel Hernán Acosta Mejía Airport and is a civil and military airport located in the town of Tegucigalpa. Surrounded by mountains, it has a short runway and two terminals, though only one is currently open whilst the other is refurbished. Opening times vary and extreme weather can cause the airport to close.
