DESTINATION GUIDE
Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Named after Beatles musician John Lennon this airport provides air transportation to Liverpool and the surrounding area. Located just under seven miles from the city centre, Liverpool John Lennon Airport is built within the grounds of Tudor manor house Speke Hall and since its opening in the 1930s has become one of Europe’s fastest growing airports. The airport features a modern terminal building which replaces the former art deco terminal building, which until 2001, lay derelict before being converted into a hotel. Other passenger facilities including car rental services, a multi-storey car park, and a paid for VIP lounge can be found at the airport. The main terminal possesses a plethora of shops, restaurants and bars. The airport is well connected via road networks and public transport. For aircraft the airport provides refuelling facilities and hangers for maintenance, and the substantial aprons provide ample space for airliners of varying size.
