Terminal 3 opened just in time for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and it is the second largest airport passenger terminal, after Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 3. All three terminals have an array of passenger facilities including restaurants, shops and bars. Terminal 3 features a food court named global kitchen, which comprised of over 70 food outlets. The airport also has VIP facilities located in terminals 2 and 3. Beijing Capital International Airport has three runways, capable of handling aircraft of varying sizes, including the mammoth Airbus A380. Soon a new, much larger airport is due to open in Beijing called Beijing Daxing Airport, expected to be the largest airport in the world. Daxing Airport will operate as a secondary airport to help with demand and increased passenger numbers.
